It can be tough, especially as I get older. I do a few different things. After my really long runs I take an ice-bath for 10-5 minutes. It’s rough but seems to help. I refuel right away with a recovery drink or even chocolate milk. Before and after long runs I take electrolyte pills (sodium, calcium, magnesium, potassium). I don’t stretch before or after running but I do stretch for 15-20 minutes every night before bed. I’ve also spent years and years or running, biking and recently swimming to get to this point.
And while yes I do recovery enough that I can run the next day, I’m always sore!
WOW. Not that you are ancient old or anything, but how do you recover when you RUN so much?
