Maybe not quite as pretty as you think.
In the United States, virtually everyone has seen the "pink ribbon" campaigns plastered on everything from make-up and cupcakes to t-shirts and fried chicken buckets, and recognize the symbol as a sign of breast cancer awareness.
It's certainly a noble cause, considering that if current trends continue one in 8 U.S. women will be diagnosed with breast cancer at some point during their lives.
Unfortunately, this cause is noble only in appearance; in reality, the multimillion-dollar company behind all those pink ribbons -- the Susan G. Komen Foundation – uses less than a dime of each dollar to actually look for a breast cancer cure... and that's just the surface of the problem...

There is a God - part 2
Backstreet Boy gets swine flu
Posted: 04:22 PM ET
Just as their album “This is Us” is about to drop (Tuesday October 6th), the Backstreet Boys are dropping out of several scheduled appearances. Brian Littrell has been diagnosed with H1N1 flu, also known as swine flu.
It’s unfortunate timing – the band was scheduled to appear today for a signing at NYC PINKTOBER Hard Rock CafĂ© and Tuesday on the CBS “Early Show,” performing their new single “Straight Through My Heart.” Band members Nick Carter, Howie Dorough and AJ McLean apparently aren’t showing any symptoms and have been prescribed Tamiflu as a preventative measure. The band just returned from touring in Tokyo.
Littrell released this statement via his record label: ”We were really looking forward to spending time with our closest fans and friends in NYC and take part of PINKTOBER, an unbelievable and important program. I hope we can come back soon and do everything we can to help.”
No word on the rest of their scheduled appearances.

The 80’s through music in 10 minutes
The good the bad and the ugly. For all of you around my age who survived the 80’s.
And I don’t want to hear how hot Rick Springfield was. And yeah Boy George scares me too. Eddie Murphy should stick to comedy. I liked Van Halen better with David Lee than Sammy. Mesiah complex or not, Bono can sing. Slash’s top hat is awesome. How much hairspray was used in making video’s in the 80’s?
Dark Secret – I took Sam to see Wham in concert and I lusted after the dude in A-Ha’s hair.
