Put it on Autopilot
Investments, savings, utility and other household bills...credit card. mortgage and other loan payments.
Setup to have as many bills, loans and investments paid automatically out of your paycheck or checking account as you can.
Save time, save on checks, save money on stamps. Never have a payment late again or pay a late fee. Keep your credit nice and pristine.
Skip all the above if you'd rather spend a few hours each month going through bills and writing out checks.

I just read the same advice a couple of days ago on another blog that you might like:
www.mrmoneymustache.com
It's oriented towards people with middle- to upper-middle-class incomes, and its aim is to help people reorient their desires so that they can be happy with low spending levels, which in turn will enable them to save a lot of money and retire young.
I have to say that I agree in principle but not in practice.
basically, I don't trust many of the companies that bill me regularly. So while I do pay several bills electronically, I don't have any of them set to automatic.
