Tip of the Day

Don't get caught up in other people's 'numbers'. Everyone's situation is different. When you hear that Sally Spend-a-Lot payed down $50,000 in debt in 12 months, don't freak out and think wow I don't even make $50,000 a year. Think of your own circumstances and what you can do to improve your own lot in life.

I used to read stories about people who saved and saved and saved and then retired at age 35, I'd think dang why can't I save like that. Then you dig deeper into the story and realize it was some single dude making $200,000 a year, living in a dump apartment and eating Ramen noodles and rice everyday.

When you have a family, in our case a larger family, you have a different path to take to financial security. Figure your own way and what works for your family. It can be diffucult at times, but we have figured out a balance between saving for the future and actually having some fun now. You can do both.
