US Open 2008

While I'm not doing daily posts on this tournament like I did with Wimbledon, I don't have time in my life right now to, I figure I'd post major highlights.

Today: "Ana Ivanovic struggled from start to finish in her second-round match Thursday against 188th-ranked qualifier Julie Coin of France, losing 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 — her second straight disappointing exit at a Grand Slam". from Fox Sports.

Well the cuteness factor certainly went down on the women's side of the draw.

Aaaaaargh! If there is one thing that makes me crazy about tennis, it is this attitude about the women's players that equates their play with their looks. I think it's a man thing--really hard to see women who can kick your butts--seems to be easier if they are pretty? Really, I don't get it.

Yeah, I like Marat, and yes he is the best looking man on tour, but I was a big fan of Johnny Mac back in the day. He was NOT even a little pretty, but his game was beautiful. Oh, yeah, do you remember Ivan Lendl. Ugly as dirt, no personality, but a great player.

I really love the game, not the looks of the players. Guess I feel about it the way that those of you who run, or bike, or swim feel about the best of your sport. Please don't denigrate the women athletes by judging them on looks. Enjoy the game and judge them on performance.

So, go Dinara! Best (female) player in the world based on the last 5 months or thereabout! And Vamos Rafa!

naw I don't really care what they look like, i just didn't have anything intelligent to say.

Heck I liked Lindsay Davenport )sp?) and she wasn't the prettiest out there.

Johnny Mac was my fav player. Lendl was too much of a robot for my tastes. I like at least some personality.

btw - we are back from our seminary vist. How's your daughter doing?
