1,000 Runs

This past Sunday was day 1,000 in a row of running. I've been running off and on since 1978. Sometimes a lot, sometimes a little. Sometimes not at all.

Since 2001 I have been running a lot. And since November 22, 2010 I have run at least 2 miles every day. I ran through injuries, heat-waves, snow, rain, lighting, vacations, the flu, the stomach bug, colds, chaffed nether regions, blisters, bloody nipples, early in the morning, at lunch, in the afternoon, in the evening, just before midnight to get the run in, thru life, death etc...

Some stats:
  • ran around 8,000 miles total
  • averaged 8 miles per day
  • shortest run 2 miles
  • longest run 55 miles (race)
  • went through about 25 pair of shoes
  • roughly 1,200 runs, since somedays I run twice

I have no plans to stop and I have no goal as to how long I want this to continue. I am just gonna keep doing my Forrest Gump impersonation and run. It's what I enjoy.

That's about it. No big lessons learned during this current streak.

As if the 1000 day streak weren't impressive enough, the daily average blows my mind. I was honored to run with you on your 1000th day.
