Titan of teen angst, director John Hughes, dies at 59 on Manhattan Street
He was the director and writer of some of my favorite movies during my college years:

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
Planes, Trains and Automobiles
He also wrote Vacation, Christmas Vacation, Pretty in Pink, Mr. Mom, and Home Alone 1 & 2 among others
