You know, in France, children, boys and even girls wear an alb with a wood cross for the first communion. No veil at all for young girls, nor white flowers, nor white shoes. I remember my daughter wearing a white alb with huge black Vans as shoes sticking out! Wanting too much generalizing the ceremony makes it loose its majesty.
