Tour de France 2008

Stage 5

Today was the longest stage of the tour, 232 km’s, but a flat one. This lead to a bunch sprint for the last few hundred meters. Nothing really changed with the overall leaders. The green jersey is the only one to change hands today.

Tomorrow is when it gets interesting. We will finally start getting some hills to break things up and make the riders really work. the race resumes its southerly course across France's hot Massif Central and has an 11 km uphill finish to Super Besse, a ski resort.

The Jersey status:

Maillot Jaune (yellow jersey - overall leader) - Stefan Schumacher of Germany who rides for Gerolsteiner

Green Jersey (points leader for sprinting) – Thor “the god of thunder’ Hushovd of Norway who rides for CREDIT AGRICOLE

Polka Dot Jersey (best in the mountains) - Thomas Voeckler of France who is the leader of the French team BOUYGUES TELECOM

White Jersey (best young rider - under 25) - Thomas Lovkvist of Sweden who rides for Team Columbia

à bientôt
